Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at dplafscme@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You can and should request a steward or other Union representative in any meeting that could lead to discipline, termination, or otherwise affect your personal working conditions.

  • Investigatory Meetings
  • Disciplinary Meetings
  • Mediations (Supervisor or HR)
  • Personal Improvement Plan (PIP) Check-ins
  • Any meeting that transitions to a discussion about your performance or working conditions (schedule changes, verbal warnings, etc.)

Stewards are dues-paying members who have taken additional training to learn more about our contract and how they can best support and represent the membership.

Examples of steward duties include:

  • Attending disciplinary meetings
  • Assisting a member filing a grievance
  • Representing a member during their grievance procedure
  • Answering questions about the contract
  • Sharing Union activities with their colleagues

If you are a dues-paying member looking to become more knowledgeable about the contract and involved in our Local, stewardship is a great place to start.

Please reach out to the Executive Board with your interest and we will share when the next training takes place.
